Assorted rebacks performed on books in the Dartmouth library’s circulating collection.

T R E A T M E N T

In each example here, the case spine was removed and the original covering material lifted. The textblock’s spine was given a release layer of Japanese tissue and an extended lining of Western paper. A new spine piece was built from toned cloth and folder stock and attached. A Japanese tissue hinge was added in the interior. The old spine was mended, trimmed, and attached. If necessary, the corners were consolidated with paste.
